JC-1 | Cartridge Preamplifier | 1976 - 1977

The JC-1 came in two versions, the -DC, battery powered and the -AC version, with an external power supply.
It seems that some models use modules (eg. black boxes) some don't.

It was (of course) was designed by John Curl.

This page is for the JC1, you can also have alook at the following pages:

  • the JC1-DC
  • and the JC1-AC

  1. Hello,
I have a JC-1AC that is not working. The power supply seems to be fine. My only and limited experience tells me that the center plug-in module may be the problem. Two questions, are you a source for a part? Second, is there anyone (you) out there that would be willing to attempt a repair? OR, do I scrape it and hope I find something to replace it? Please advise and thank you in advance for any and all help and information.
    Sincerely,
    Your fretted friend,

  2. Dear Bob, MIchael,

Did you already sort out your repairs? I have one JC-1 as well and my technician
told me that my phonoboard module is probably the issue.

    Hope to get any reply,
    Ray

  3. Thank you Ray,
Unfortunately I had no success in finding a new module. I purchased an inexpensive PP2E by NAD that works for now . I am still hoping to find a part and hanging on to the JC1. I sure do miss it!
